How I Obtained the BCS International Diploma
More recently, I obtained the much-coveted British Computing Society (BCS) Diploma. I had to write four examinations, then an oral examination which lasted for around one hour.
Getting Started
Four courses lead to the Diploma, all of which must be passed, scoring a pass mark of 26/40 before qualifying to register for the oral examination. There are two compulsory modules you must first register for. These are Business Analysis Practice and Requirements Engineering.
Afterwards, you have to select one knowledge-based module from four options:
Thereafter, you have to choose one practitioner module:
Upon completing all four modules, you can then proceed to register for the oral examination. The examination can take up to 50 minutes with either one or two examiners. Questions will be based on topics defined in the oral examination syllabus and from your chosen specialist modules and will require you to apply your business analysis knowledge and understanding to scenarios described by the oral examiners.
Preparing For The Examination
The organisation I worked for sponsored these examinations through a delivery provider called QA, which provided the training materials and guidance. If your company has one, kindly ensure to engage them. In addition to this, I used materials on YouTube, Quizlet, Coursera, and many other resources I found online. These helped ensure I covered both breadth and depth as it pertains to the examination.
